Men's XC League Preview (12/01/2018)

Tony Phillips has been in touch with his preview of the Men's XC League.

"Tipton's Birmingham and District Cross Country League results have been encouraging, with the team finishing second in the last meeting at Stoke, that was the club's best position for four years, the last being in the 2013-14 season, when they finished third overall.

On that occasion the counters in the final meeting were Ian Rawlinson, 3rd, Ben Gamble 10th, Matt Granger 11th, Ian Williams 16th, Luke Vine 60th. and Adam Solely 71st.

In last December's race Tipton's performance should not be overlooked, finishing 2nd to Loughborough University Students, and leaving Tipton in 3rd place in the league to date. The Tipton counters were Ian Williams 4th, Peter Brookes 5th, Joe Smith 6th, Martin Williams 14th, Phil Wilson 22nd, Stephen Corbishley 37th.

A good turnout for the third meeting at Warley tomorrow could see Tipton retain 3rd spot in the League with a possibility of second overall with a good turnout and individual performances to match those in the last meeting. That result would would be worth all the effort to consolidate a top three place in the League with one race to go."

Tony has be under the weather recently and admits he is unlikely to be at the meeting tomorrow. We wish him well.
