Loz Heathcock reports "A mild, chilly but dry morning greeted the runners with a decent sized field despite Saturdays xc leagues. The course has changed in recent years to a two lap affair but no less easier as a result. Open roads and pretty bad surfaces to run on add to a demanding course, with not so much climbs as drags which test the legs, especially on the second lap.

The race was won by our very own Steve Brookes, who was in a 3 man lead group going into mile 9 and just had enough to sprint home for the win.

As for the masters, it was Gold for Penny Barber and team Silver for Heathcock, A. Williams and Brittain. Other finishers for the hoops were Joe Gregory, Rosy Mclean and Jon Shaw. well done all."  Results.

Penny Barber clarifies her position: "I was actually silver, not gold in the Masters. First W50 was the impressive Kathryn Wright from Stratford who was 3rd Female. Because she was 3rd Female in the overall contest & got a prize for that, she didn't get the W50 prize so I got that despite being second W50"
