Much improved Tipton at third WM League

Sunday 7 Dec saw the Tipton lasses and lads at Sandwell Valley Park for the third meeting of the season for the West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country league. Stan Jones had laid out a rather groovy new course to overcome the waterlogging and it was acclaimed by all as better than the old one.  Lots of variety and a really fast downhill finish!  Thanks to the frost, the course was firm and the sun cheered everyone up. With the rolling scenery, it made a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday morning.

Tipton fielded complete teams in all but one of the races, a big improvement over Leamington. There were also some impressive individual and team performances.  Special mentions:
Ailish Craig who came third in the girls U13 - her best result so far this series. She is now lying in 4th place overall.
Chris Davies - 6th in the boys U11. Also his best result, bringing him up to 6th place overall.
Jorden Drummond - 6th in the U15 boys and several places better than his previous race.
Sophie Lynch and Katie Harper, 6th and 8th respectively in the U17 women, with Sophie 4th and Katie now 5th overall.
U17 womens' team who are in third place and just behind RSC, U15 boys' team now fourth, U17 mens' team now fifth.

What really impresses is the continuing high Tipton turnouts in the U17, both for men and women.  In this age group where the race numbers drop off dramatically, Tipton is fielding at least 6 or 7 runners every time. Well done them!
